Favorite Quotes:
There is a dark side to the human soul that is filled with conflict and torment. It is a side of the human soul that very few people are brave enough to explore. -- the priest who said mass and had a short eulogy for him at Robert Mapplethrope's funeral.

I am the Devil and I am here to do the Devil's work. -- Otis Firefly from The Devil's Rejects.

I'm gonna walk myself back to the woman my mother thought I was. I'm gonna put myself in the way of beauty. - Cheryl Strayed from Wild.

Favorite Top 5 or 10 Horror Films:

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre (all the films from the iconic 1974 original film to the latest 2022 Netflix film)
  • The Exorcist
  • The entire Friday the 13th franchise (except for Jason X - that was meh)
  • The entire Nightmare on Elm Street saga, except for the remake - not a big fan of it.
  • The entire Halloween saga, except Halloween III: Season of the Witch - that shit doesn't even COUNT!
  • Freddy vs. Jason (for some reason, that shit was so hilarious, yet still scary as hell and was good enough that it still earned a spot in my Freddy and Jason collection)
  • The entire Scream saga. I actually liked it! (RIP Wes Craven)
  • Shaun of the Dead (gotta love your horror comedy!)
  • Zombieland 1 AND 2 -- great stuff.
  • It wasn't exactly easy to decide, but I truly did enjoy Rob Zombie's masterpiece trilogy starting with House of 1000 Corpses and ending with 3 From Hell. All three films showed an evolution from where they all began and got to how it ended, and it was perfect.

(NOTE: I do have more favorites, but can't really list them all here LOL - you wouldn't have time to read them!)

Favorite horror games:

  • Well, obviously the entire Resident Evil saga.
  • All the Doom games (except for Doom 3, since it wasn't very accessible for deaf gamers back then at the time and had no subtitles/captions)
  • Friday The 13th
  • Ash vs. Evil Dead
  • Fears to Fanthom
  • One Leaves
  • House of the Dead
  •  Zombie Army: Dead War 4 (I also enjoyed the Dead War/Zombie Army trilogy as well)
  • Manhunt
  • Outlast 1 and 2
  • The Last of Us game series
  • Zombies Ate My Neighbors!
  • Silent Hill
  • The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (GREAT GAME SO FAR - STILL PLAYING IT!!!)

Favorite Horror Writers/Authors:

  • Edgar Allen Poe
  • Stephen King
  • Anne Rice
  • H.P. Lovecraft
  • Storm Constatine
  • Poppy Z. Brite

Favorite Horror TV Shows:

  • Wednesday
  • Stranger Things
  • Hannibal
  • Dexter
  • Scream (the TV series)
  • Chucky
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Angel

How My Love and Fiery Creative Passion for Horror Led Me Here

Hi, I'm Lorelei, aka L.K. the HorrorNerd, and I'm the Owner/CEO/Founder of Oconeth Studios (a new indie film production studio company focusing on indie horror films and the occasional LGBTIQQA+ comedy/rom-com/romantic/drama, etc. films, but the primary focus/genre is horror and all sub-genres of horror), and I'm also the podcast/visual-cast/vlog host and founder of The HorrorNerd Experience (which is also on Apple Podcasts as well). Outside of that, I'm also a horror gamer/streamer/content creator, a horror writer/poet, horror artist and of course, as previously aforementioned where I own Oconeth Studios, I'm a horror filmmaker/actress/screenwriter/producer/director when I'm not managing or running the studio. I'm also a horror photographer/model/cosplayer on occasion whenever I have time, and yes, I even do reviews of all things horror, especially books/short stories/poetry by different authors and writers, films, TV shows and of course, horror games and all sorts of products, shops, etc. that you can check out when I review them as well, which is always included in any one of my various web-series/segments on my YouTube channel and via Patreon.

I live in Vermont with my girlfriend who is essentially my strength and the reason (along with other reasons) of why I am here today and doing what I love most, and we have a new service animal dog and emotional support cat on the way to join our lovely family soon, and hopefully after being settled down for a while (and maybe getting married), we'll start adopting a kid or two! I'm into a wide variety of hobbies/special interests, such as archery, horseback riding, enjoying going out on camping/hiking/biking/swimming/fishing adventures, riding and working on motorcycles, and whenever I have time, ride an ATV with some friends. I also am an community/mutual aid activist, mental health advocate, disability advocate, etc., and I'm a deafblind non-binary trans woman who's had several surgeries so far and awaiting 3-4 final surgeries to finish a long journey to be at peace (and of course, healthy as well). I also have interests in LEGO building, other video games that I enjoy (that's not horror-related -- hey, I can play other games outside of the horror community, ya know? LOL), traveling and trying out new foods/recipes and cooking at home. And I especially enjoy watching horror movies and TV shows with my love with plenty of snacks, yummy foods and drinks whenever we get together for horror movie nights.

My love for horror, along with my FIERY CREATIVE PASSION for all things horror, started when I first watched The Exorcist and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (the original iconic 1974 film) with my mom and my late older brother at the age of 10, and while technically, I did watch a horror movie called Night of the Living Dead at the age of 5 or 6, along with Friday the 13th, I wasn't really ready for horror and was scared shitless, but as I've gotten older, horror became like this creative outlet to heal from the wounds of my past and give me a light out of the darkness and to find peace in where I am today in life. I enjoyed the creative process, how you could turn anything into an artistic masterpiece in the horror community and be as honest and as authentic as you truly can be, without being so afraid of your own potential, your own power, and even your own light and darkness.

While having grown up to the likes of those movies aforementioned above, along with other zombie and slasher movies and a wide variety of horror movies over the years, I have wandered around the world to read books outside of the horror community to discover the likes of Cheryl Strayed who wrote Wild and and of course, John Green who wrote The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns and of course, Wonder written by another author, and how books like these, especially Perks of Being An Wallflower had such a HUGE PROFOUND IMPACT on my life after losing some very significant people that I loved and cared for very deeply in my life along the way over the years (such as a few of my brothers who died, one of my grandmothers, then my grandfather, and of course, my late wife and daughter, etc.), and how the traumas and the grief and losses of all those that I've loved and lost over the years had pushed me to the breaking point that I needed to experience to get to where I am today, essentially going into my own neurodivergent, deafblind, trans/non-binary and autistic version of my Wild journey, just to find some answers to lingering questions and hopefully some peace.

By the time I met my girlfriend (after a long relationship with an ex-fiancée that I broke up with on good terms), I wasn't fully put together, but I was on my way, and then I started writing my books and 3 new indie horror film scripts, and before I knew it, I picked up an Xbox Series X controller and tried a horror game for the first time in nearly 15 years, and fell in love with horror again. It was then everything started to fall into place, and I had finally walked the final miles to get back to the woman that I used to be and be a new and much happier and better human being than ever before, just more older, wiser and having gone beyond my years (adding some gray hairs along the way) to figure out that this is where I belong and this is what I was meant to do.

And while I am a former Deaf-Blind musician who's soon retiring from a nearly 30-year music industry career that started in a garage with my older brother at the age of 10, I will still get to do my swan song in the form of a saga album box set, where there'll be a 3 EP trilogy set, then an 3-full length album set, then concluding it all with a farewell album and releasing the b-sides/rarities/demos compilation album with new bandmates and be able to retire properly the way I should've retired back in 2020.

Now my true focus is on all things horror, opening the new gaming/cannabis shop with the love of my life (assuming that she'll be with me for the rest of my life), along with a restaurant we'll open right next to the shop together, and enjoying the content creation process again as a horror content creator/gamer/streamer, and of course, continuing on with my horror filmmaking/acting career and my writing career for the rest of my life.

So this is my journey, my life, my world and I welcome you to it. Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy my chilling, wild and hauntingly beautiful and sometimes scary yet brutally honest adventures that is me and the horror content I create for all of you. Because I love all of this, and without you, there is no reason for me to be passionate anymore. You were one of the biggest reasons why I got back into what I loved doing, so thank you.

See you soon with more to come!
